Future Islands (that’s Gerrit Welmers, William Cashion, and Samuel T. Herring), met and formed while studying at East Carolina University. Founded in 2006 after the demise of the band’s first band, Art Lord & the Self-Portraits, the group has been prolific in their music, spawning four studio albums (Wave Like Home, In Evening Air, On The Water, and the forthcoming Singles) in just seven years.
