Broadway was dark for 18 months and just reopened in September with a host of new COVID regulations, including vaccination and mask-wearing for patrons, rigorous personal testing for cast and crew members and theaters installed portable air fans and filters to ventilate the historic theaters. But that hasn’t stopped breakthrough COVID cases from disappointing theatergoers with COVID-caused Broadway closures. Below is a full list of Broadway shows that are currently open, coming back soon, on hiatus or canceled due to COVID.

Closed or on hiatus? Waitress is closed permanently after suspending performances due to COVID since December 2021.

With only two weeks of performances remaining and due to positive cases of COVID detected in the company and crew at the Barrymore Theatre, the decision has been made to curtail the engagement which was scheduled to run through January 9.

What to do if your Broadway show is canceled due to COVID-19?
Due to a surge in COVID-19 cases some Broadway shows have been cancelled. All tickets for Broadway performances will be refunded at point of purchase. If you purchased your tickets through SeatGeek and your event is cancelled and not rescheduled, SeatGeek will send an email with all applicable refund details for eligible orders. What COVID vaccine requirements are needed for Broadway in NYC?
COVID vaccine requirements for people attending live indoor performances in New York:
All adults must show a photo ID and proof of COVID-19 vaccination
Acceptable forms of vaccination include NYC Covid Safe App, Excelsior Pass, a physical CDC vaccination card or photo of one
All kids 5 to 11 must now show proof of receiving at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and the accompanying adult must be fully vaccinated.
If a child has been vaccinated less than 14 days before the performance, they must show proof of a negative COVID-19 test for entry into the show
Children may only present a negative test result if they have a medical or religious exemption from vaccination
International visitors must show proof of two doses of any FDA or WHO-approved vaccine
