    MLB tickets

In the last two weeks, we have used seat geek twice. Once for Yankees vs Blue jays and blue jays vs cubs. Each time the seat selection and delivery were easy. I wish the seats were a better deal but each city sets their prices. We are enjoying the app

About STOP MAKING SENSE: A Film by Jonathan Demme and Talking Heads Tickets

In 1984, director Jonathan Demme collaborated with Talking Heads to create Stop Making Sense, a concert film that would redefine the genre. Filmed over three nights at the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood during the band’s tour for their 1983 album Speaking in Tongues, the film captured the group at the height of their creative powers. The performances were staged with meticulous planning, opening with David Byrne alone on stage performing “Psycho Killer” with just a boombox, and gradually adding band members and instruments song by song. This build-up, combined with Byrne’s iconic oversized suit and Demme’s kinetic camerawork, transformed the show into a theatrical narrative rather than a standard concert recording.

Upon release, Stop Making Sense was praised for its innovative cinematography, staging and energy, earning acclaim as one of the greatest concert films ever made. Unlike most live music films of the time, Demme avoided crowd reaction shots, instead keeping the focus on the band’s movement, expressions and interplay. The film was accompanied by a live album of the same name, which showcased career-defining performances of hits like “Burning Down the House” and “Once in a Lifetime.” The blend of precise musicianship, visual artistry and Byrne’s eccentric performance style elevated Talking Heads from an acclaimed new wave act to cultural icons.

The film’s legacy has only grown in the decades since. In 2023, to mark the film’s 40th anniversary, Stop Making Sense underwent a full 4K restoration by A24 and was re-released in theaters worldwide, followed by a home release. The restored version introduced a new generation to its groundbreaking artistry, further cementing its place in film and music history. Stop Making Sense remains both a time capsule of the early 1980s music scene and a timeless example of what happens when live performance and cinema are fused at their most creative.
