She began performing as a young child, singing and dancing by age five in local talent shows and even competing on Star Search at eight. Her crossover hit “How Do I Live” set records as one of the longest-running songs on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned massive international success, followed by pop-leaning albums like You Light Up My Life (1997) and Sittin’ on Top of the World (1998) that further expanded her fan base.
