Who are High on Fire?

High on Fire is a sludge and stoner metal trio formed in 1998 in Oakland, California, by guitarist/vocalist Matt Pike(formerly of Sleep), drummer Des Kensel and bassist George Rice. Known for their ferocious riff-heavy sound, they’ve drawn influence from Black Sabbath, Motörhead, and Celtic Frost. Over the years, the lineup shifted—Jeff Matz joined on bass, and Coady Willis (Big Business / Melvins) replaced Kensel on drums in 2021.
