What started as a festival in California on October 9, 1999 would soon turn into a cultural phenomenon for years to come. The Coachella Music & Arts Festival is not just an event, it’s a way of life. Back in 1999, Coachella was a two-day festival with headliners Beck and Rage Against the Machine. After that first festival in October, the event moved to the month of April. And then, in 2012, something even bigger happened. No longer was Coachella just a festival that happened one weekend in California each year.
