The CMA Awards were established by the Country Music Association in 1967 as an industry event to recognize excellence in country music. The inaugural ceremony took place at Nashville’s Municipal Auditorium, where Eddy Arnold was honored as the first Entertainer of the Year. The following year, the show was taped and broadcast by NBC, and in 1969, it became the first country awards show to be aired live. The most recent ceremony—the 58th Annual CMA Awards—took place on November 20, 2024, at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, broadcast live on ABC (with streaming available on Hulu).
