About Gettin' the Band Back Together Tickets
A witty romantic comedy about getting a second chance at first love, Gettin’ the Band Back Together centers around a New York City businessman who is fired on his fortieth birthday and returns to his hometown to move back in with his parents. This original musical was developed by veteran Broadway producer Ken Davenport along with the Grundleshotz, a group of performers and writers. After a warm reception at the George Street Playhouse in New Brunswick, NJ, Gettin’ the Band Back Together finally made its way to Broadway in 2018. Award winning producer and writer Ken Davenport has been involved in many successful Broadway shows, both originals and revivals. He’s been nominated for numerous awards, winning several, including the Tony Award for Best Musical (Kinky Boots, 2013), the Broadway.com Audience Choice Award for Favorite Play Revival (Macbeth, 2013 and Godspell, 2012), and the Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Off-Broadway Musical (Altar Boys, 2005). Marilu Henner launched the Broadway production of Gettin’ the Band Back Together, playing the role of Sharon Papadopolous. After getting her start in the original Grease, Henner has starred in many film and television shows, including Taxi, Who’s the Boss, Man on the Moon, and Batman & Mr. Freeze: Subzero. She is a published author, producer and radio host in addition to her acting roles. She was also featured on Dancing with the Stars and has appeared on Two and a Half Men and Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Tamika Lawrence took on the role of Roxanne Velasco in the Broadway launch of Gettin’ the Band Back Together, adding to her already impressive Broadway resumé. She got her start on Broadway as Mrs. Brown in The Book of Mormon in 2012, then went on to perform in Matilda, If/Then and Come From Away. Ms. Lawrence has also made several television appearances, including the wildly popular performance of The Wiz Live! Gettin’ the Band Back Together opened on Broadway at the Belasco Theatre. The first preview was July 19, 2018, and the official launch took place on August 13, 2018. Gettin’ the Band Back Together is suitable for most audiences, though parents are advised that children under 4 are not allowed in the theater. Gettin’ the Band Back Together runs about the same as most Broadway performances, lasting close to 2 hours with one intermission. As with any live performance, Gettin’ the Band Back Together may run a little longer than average.
